As shown in Fig. 3a, the small holes are machined by ultrasonic-assisted electrochemical drill-grinding set up. While the ball-end electrode rotates continuously, it is accompanied by downward feeding and periodic vibration. It can be seen that the ball-end electrode is equipped with diamond abrasive particles, which are added to the ball-end by electrodeposition as shown in Fig. 2b.
