The grinding behavior of corn and corncobs was investigated at moisture content levels of 10.39%, 16.02%, and 19.64% (wet basis) for shelled corn and 10.04%, 14.65%, and 20.13% (wet basis) for corncobs. Grinding performance was assessed by determining the throughput, specific rate of breakage, particle size distribution, power consumption, and energy required for grinding using a hammermill.
In this study, the grinding kinetics and the flowability of balloon flowers (BFs) with various moisture contents (8, 12, and 20%) were determined. Three semi-empirical grinding models (Bond, Kick, and Rittinger) were applied to describe the BFs' grinding process. A lower moisture content resulted in a decreased grinding constant value (Bond's index). Based on the kinetics of particles ...
The effect of tempered wheat moisture on specific grinding energy is shown in Fig. 1.The obtained data show that tempering moisture had a highly significant influence on the value of specific grinding energy (E r).The change of moisture content, from 12% to 18% w.b., caused an increase in E r for all cultivars. There was no statistically significant differentiation of the specific grinding ...
The crushing tests of different moisture content bauxite were made by using laboratory high pressure grinding roller. The results showed that, high pressure grinding roller capacity had little effect and favourable to crushing when bauxite contained some moisture, and high pressure grinding roller capacity reduced significantly and high pressure grinding roller crushing result effected deeply ...

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of whole-corn moisture and hammermill screen size on subsequent ground corn moisture, particle size and flowability. Treatments were arranged as a 2 × 2 factorial design with two moisture concentrations (14.5 and 16.7%), each ground using 2 hammermill screen sizes (3 mm and 6 mm). Corn was ground using a lab-scale 1.5 HP Bliss ...

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of whole corn moisture and hammermill screen size on subsequent ground corn moisture, particle size, and flow- ability. Whole yellow dent #2 corn was used for this experiment. Treatments were arranged as a 2 × 2 factorial design with two moisture concentrations (as-received and high) each ground using 2 hammermill screen …

Grinding is a staple size-reduction process to produce food powders in which the powdered form is chemically and microbiologically stable and convenient to use as end products or intermediate products. The moisture content of food materials before grinding is a particularly important factor, since it determines the materials' physical properties and the powder properties, such as flowability ...
A pilot plant grinding study was made to investigate the effect of moisture content of the slurry and chemical additives on wet grinding of "hard" and "soft" limestones. It was determined that a narrow range of optimum moisture content exists for fine grinding of limestone. This range was 31% – 35% moisture for the hard and 35% – 38 ...
